Class 4A, Region 5 rival Jacksonville comes to Hokes Bluff with two major offensive weapons – Jackson Bell and Dominique Thomas.

In last week’s dismantling of the Red Raiders, Bell rushed for 148 yards on seven carries and scored three touchdowns, while Thomas added 122 yards with a touchdown.

“They’re pretty good,” Hokes Bluff coach Mike Robertson said. “They’re pretty much the same team that beat us last year, at least on offense.”

“On defense, there are some new faces but they’re still very talented,” Robertson said. “We’ll have to play well to be able to keep up.”

Last week, Hokes Bluff was defeated by Southside, 35-14.

“We had a chance to tie it at 21,” Robertson said. “We missed that opportunity, and Southside did well the rest of the game. We’ve just got to get more commitment up front. Otherwise, I thought we played pretty well for a season opener.”

Against the Panthers, Chase Beggs rushed 23 times for 172 yards.

Cole Williams completed 11-of-23 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns, while Phillip Ward had three receptions for 26 yards.

Chase Pope led the Eagles in tackles with 10, followed by Noah Click with nine, Matthew Truett with eight and Dylan Drake with seven.
