Etowah, Gaston, Coosa, Ashville come up short

Coosa Christian lost to Spring Garden, 27-0, on August 26 in Gadsden. For the Conquerors (0-2), Jy Mostella rushed 12 times for 52 yards. John David Justus was 9 for 20 in passing for 172 yards. Clete O’Bryant had four receptions for 40 yards, while Eli Motes caught three passes for 95 yards. Coosa (0-2) begin Class 1A Region play this Friday (Sept. 2) at home against Gaylesville.

Ashville came up short against Lincoln, 35-10, on August 26. For the Bulldogs, Travis Smith rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, while Conner Owen gained 24 yards on five carries. Greyson Simpson finished with eight tackles, followed by Smith and Ashton Mostella with seven each. Mostella also had three sacks, while Simpson kicked a 34-yard field goal. Ashville kicks off their Class 4A Region 6 schedule at Etowah this Friday (Sept. 2).

Etowah lost to Fort Payne, 26-14, on August 26. The Blue Devils (1-1) open Class 4A Region 6 play this Friday (Sept. 2) at home against Ashville.

Gaston fell to Appalachian, 26-0, on August 26. The Bulldogs (1-1) start off their Class 2A Region 6 schedule this Friday (Sept. 2) at home against Southeastern.
