Etowah, GCHS win; Sardis, Ashville come up short

Etowah earned its first win of the season with a 48-6 victory over Class 4A Region 6 rival Ashville on Friday, Sept. 20 in Attalla.
The Blue Devils (13-, 1-2) finished with a 519 to 99 advantage in total yards, including a 319 to 49 edge on the ground.
For Etowah, Jameson Scissum was 19 for 23 in passing for 209 yards and three touchdowns.
Etowah visits Southside on Friday, Sept. 27 in a region matchup.

Gadsden City improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in Class 6A Region 8 with a 41-21 homecoming victory over Hazel Green on Friday, Sept. 20 at GCHS.
The Titans step out of region play on Friday, Sept. 27 with a visit to Bob Jones in Madison.

Ashville lost to Etowah, 48-6, in a Class 4A Region 8 game on Friday, Sept. 20 in Attalla. The For the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-2), J.B. Potter completed 14 of 25 passes for 47 yards. Jamon Williams caught six passes for 34 yards, while Nate Huckbay had five receptions for 27 yards. Braton Thomas had eight tackles, followed by Brayden Daniels with seven and Hayden Phillips and Jeremiah Sasser with six each.
Ashville travels to Talladega on Friday, Sept. 27 for a non-region game.

Sardis fell to 1-3 on the season with a 45-7 loss to Scottsboro in Class 5A Region 8 action on Friday, Sept. 27. Brayden Whidden caught a 29-yard touchdown pass for Sardis. The Lions host Alexandria on Friday, Sept. 27 in non-region action.
