Football roundup: Hokes Bluff, Ashville, Glencoe, Westbrook, Gaston, West End, Coosa come up short

Hokes Bluff lost to Ohatchee, 34-7, in a Class 3A, Region 5 game on September 10.
For the Eagles (1-2, 1-1), Tucker Griffin rushed for 62 yards on 13 carries. Jordan Bradley was 4 for 8 in passing for 44 yards a touchdown. Logan Wiemann caught two passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. Hokes Bluff travels to Etowah County neighbor and region rival Hokes Bluff this Friday (Sept. 17).

Ashville fell to Oneonta, 47-14, in Class 4A, Region 6 action on September 10.
The Bulldogs’ points came on Dylan Harris’s 31-yard touchdown pass to Casey Phillips in the first quarter and Jalen Williams’ 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, Greyson Simpson made both PATs.
Williams rushed 17 times for 85 yards. Harris was 4 for 6 in passing for 46 yards and ran eight times for 38 yards.
Ashville (1-3, 0-2) hosts Etowah this Friday (Sept. 17) in region action.

Glencoe fell to second-ranked Piedmont, 56-0, in Class 3A, Region 5 action on September 10. Kody Kueny, Garrett Gaskin and Mason Teague each had five tackles for the Yellow Jackets. Glencoe (0-3, 0-2) hosts Etowah County neighbor and region rival Hokes Bluff this Friday (Sept. 17).

Westbrook Christian lost to Class 2A, Region 6 rival Southeastern, 34-31, on September 10 in Remlap. For the Warriors (1-2, 0-2), Karmichael Cattling rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Mason Coley (pictured above) was 8 of 13 in passing for 97 yard and a touchdown. He also gained 64 rushing yards on 15 carries. Carl Henry scored two rushing touchdowns. Westbrook travels to Locust Fork this Friday (Sept. 17).

Gaston fell to Sand Rock, 55-13, in Class 2A, Region 6 action on September 10. For the Bulldogs (0-4, 0-2), Kobe Harris had 20 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown. Harris had five tackles on defense, followed by Julian Jones with four. Gaston continues region action this Friday (Sept. 17) at West End.

West End lost to Class 2A Region 6 rival Cleveland, 65-21, on September 10. The Patriots (1-3, 0-2) host Etowah County neighbor and region rival Gaston this Friday (Sept. 17).

Coosa Christian fell to Gaylesville, 20-17, in a Class 1A Region 7 game on September 10. The Conquerors (2-2, 1-1) host region rival Appalachian this Friday (Sept. 17).
