Huntingdon College sophomore and 2022 Glencoe High School graduate Laney Bishop was recently named Collegiate Conference of the South Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Playing a midfielder, Bishop helped the Hawks post wins over Birmingham Southern College and Mississippi University for Women. Against the Panthers, Bishop finished with two goals and three shots, all on target. Against the Owls, she finished with a pair of shots, both on goal.
While at Glencoe, Bishop was a four-time All-Etowah County Team selection, made the AHSAA Class 1A-3A team as a junior and participated in the 2021 AHSAA North/South All Star game. She helped the Lady Yellow Jackets finish with a 19-2 record for the 2021 season, during which Glencoe was ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in Class 3A for most of the regular season. Bishop’s 30 goals tied the school record for most goals scored in a season.
Bishop transferred to Huntingdon after spending her freshman year at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.
