Following a comprehensive reorganization of its website, policies and procedures, the Gadsden Land Bank Authority is continuing to move forward with its goals of meeting the needs of the community.

The GLBA recently finished the transition to ePropertyPlus, an industry leader in residential redevelopment software, in a move that has streamlined the application process and allows applicants to select a property and apply for it in one online location.

Citizens who apply for a Land Bank lot can expect the process to last roughly 120 to 150 days. The multi-faceted application process involves several steps before any property can be deeded to the applicant. Once an application is submitted, the Gadsden Land Bank Authority must obtain the tax deed from the State of Alabama.

A Quiet Title Action hearing is also required to afford anyone with a legitimate claim on the property an opportunity to claim the lot. Once a judge rules on the Quiet Title Action, the tax deed can be obtained and sold to the applicant.

The purpose of the Land Bank is to allow the citizens of Gadsden an opportunity to purchase these properties for low cost, while simultaneously reducing urban blight and revitalizing the community.
