Gadsden State announces athletic camps


The Gadsden State Community College Athletic Department will host the following camps this summer for basketball and volleyball: 

June 2-3: junior varsity boys basketball team camp ($300 per team); June 4-5: varsity boys basketball team camp ($400 per team); June 7: boys big varsity camp ($400 per team); June 9-10: varsity boys basketball camp ($400 per team); June 11, 12: girls basketball middle school play dates ($100 per team per day); June 16, 17, 23, 24: varsity girls basketball play dates ($150 per team per day); June 18, 19: junior varsity girls basketball play dates ($150 per team per day).

All camps will be held at Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden. The boys’ varsity and junior varsity camps will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. The girls’ varsity, junior varsity and middle school camps will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. each day. GSCC basketball coaches Todd Ginn and John Butts will conduct the camps.

Tentative volleyball camp dates have been scheduled as follows:

July 14-15: team camp ($50 per player); July 17-18: individual camp ($50 per player); July 28, 30: varsity play dates ($100 per team).

Volleyball team camps are open to middle school, junior varsity or varsity players, but for scheduling purposes, those interested in participating should contact GSCC volleyball coach Angie Sanders at 256-390-3565 by July 1. Camps will meet at Gadsden State’s Beck Field House from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
