GCHS boys and girls win area soccer championship

The Gadsden City High School Titan varsity soccer programs captured a sweep of Area 13 championships Tuesday night, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams defeated Fort Payne to claim title honors. The varsity girls earned a 3-0 victory to secure the championship. Miriam Rasool led the scoring with one goal, while Fiyin Oguntoyo added a goal and an assist. Avery Parker also found the net with one goal, and Caroline Frederick contributed an assist in the win. The varsity boys followed with a 3-1 victory over Fort Payne to complete the championship sweep. Isaac Lopez, PJ German and Zakorien Shack each scored one goal. Shack also recorded an assist, while Diego Marroquin added one assist in the title match. With both Area 13 championships secured, Gadsden City enters postseason play riding strong momentum as the playoffs begin. Photos submitted by Gadsden City High School.
