Area players, coach named to North all-star soccer roster

Gadsden City High School girls soccer junior center back/defender Anna Klaire Ashley (pictured above) and head coach Samantha Corker and Glencoe junior striker Aiden Cornutt were recently selected to the North team in the AHSAA North/South All-Star girls and boys soccer games on July 19 in Montgomery. The teams were chosen by a coach’s committee from nominations received from AHSAA member school coaches of the class of 2024 rising seniors.
Ashley, who finished the season with three goals and three assists was instrumental in helping the Lady Titans win the Class 6A Area 13 championship and make it to the second round of the state playoffs. The GCHS defense posted two shutouts held opponents to a 1.7 goals per game average. Corker was the North All-Star boys coach in 2021. Cornutt scored his 100th career goal this past season.
