Glencoe girls, boys advance to regionals

Glencoe defeated Piedmont, 66-50, in the girls Class 3A subregional playoffs last Monday (Feb. 13). The Lady Yellow Jackets advanced to the Northeast Regional Tournament semifinals at Jacksonville State, where they will face Susan Moore on Monday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m.

Glencoe beat Saks, 54-35, in the boys Class 3A subregional playoffs last Tuesday (Feb. 14). The Yellow Jackets (17-12) advanced to the Northeast Regional Tournament semifinals at Jacksonville State, where they will face Plainview on Monday, Feb. 20 at 10:45 a.m.

Hokes Bluff lost to Piedmont, 94-64, in the boys Class 3A subregional playoffs last Tuesday (Feb. 14). For the Eagles, Jordan Presley shot 45 percent (5-for-11) from the three-point line and 90 percent (10-for-11) from the free throw line on the way to 29 points. Landon Davenport added 13 points, while Anderson Morgan and Colby Smith each chipped in eight. Smith grabbed four rebounds, while Presley and Davenport each distributed four assists.

Southside lost to Springville, 54-35, in the boys Class 5A subregional playoffs last Tuesday (Feb. 14). The Panthers finished the season with a 10-18 record.

Gadsden City lost to Mountain Brook, 69-47, in the boys Class 6A subregional playoffs last Tuesday (Feb. 14). The Titans finished the season with a 9-21 record.

Etowah lost to New Hope, 58-40, in the girls Class 4A girls subregional playoffs last Monday (Feb. 13). The Lady Blue Devils finished the season with a 11-20 record.

Gadsden City fell to Shades Valley, 57-48, in the girls Class 6A subregional playoffs last Monday (Feb. 13). The Lady Blue Titans finished the season with an 18-13 record.
