Glencoe edged Hokes Bluff, 74-73, in the Class 3A Area 12 Tournament boys championship game on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Hokes Bluff. at Hokes Bluff. The Yellow Jackets will host and the Eagles will travel in the subregional playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 14. For Glencoe, Garrett Morgan finished with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Wade Secrets scored 14 points, followed by Aiden Cornett with 11, Andrew Greene with nine and Braylen Smith with eight. Greene also had five rebounds. Jordan Presley paced Holes Bluff with 29 points along with seven rebounds and three assists. Anderson Morgan added 17 points, followed by Lanson Davenport with 10 and Colby Smith with nine. Smith grabbed 12 rebounds, while Ashton Moody cleared five. Anderson also had four assists. In the tournament quarterfinals on Feb. 7, Glencoe posted a 61-49 win over Westbrook Christian and Hokes Bluff netted a 49-33 victory over Ohatchee. For the Eagles, Colby Smith finished with 14 points and three steals; Jordan Presley had 10 points, five assists and four rebounds; Anderson Morgan had eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals and John Clark Wetzel scored six points.
Southside nipped Alexandria, 50-49, in the Class 5A Area 12 Tournament boys championship game on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Alexandria. The Panthers (10-17) will host in the subregional playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Etowah lost to Oneonta, 45-39, in the Class 4A Area 11 Tournament boys championship game on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Oneonta. The Blue Devils Etowah (11-18) will travel in the subregional playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Etowah defeated Ashville, 75-39, the tournament semifinals on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Gadsden City beat Fort Payne, 63-59, in the semifinal of the Class 6A Area 13 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at GCHS. The Titans face Oxford int the championship game on Friday, Feb. 10.
Sardis lost to Boaz, 54-47, in the semifinals of the Class 4A, Area 11 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Douglas.
Gaston fell to Sand Rock, 75-62, in the semifinals of the Class 2A, Area 12 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Sand Rock.
West End lost to Holly Pond, 57-31, in the semifinals of the Class 2A Area 13 Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Holly Pond.
Coosa Christian lost to Gaylesville, 47-36, in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 12 Tournament on Monday, Feb. 6 at Spring Garden.
