Glencoe’s Stone finalist for state honor

Glencoe High senior quarterback Dylan Stone was a finalist for both the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Offensive/Defensive Player of the Week and Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight awards for the week of Nov. 7.

Stone finished with 329 yards of total offense and seven touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets’ 56-19 victory over Sylvania. He rushed 14 times for 244 yards and five touchdowns and added 6 of 7 passing for 85 yards and two more scores.

Two other area players were nominated. Gadsden City senior defensive end Zack Oglesby had a sack for a 9-yard loss on fourth down in the fourth quarter that led to a GCHS score and added 41-yards scoop-and-score in the Titans’ 54-37 victory over Hewitt-Trussville. Glencoe senior defensive end Chance Duncan had eight tackles, including three for a loss, and two sacks in the Yellow Jackets’ 56-19 win over Sylvania.
