Hokes Bluff community great hosts

 By Joshua Price/Sports Editor

Much appreciation goes out to Hokes Bluff High School and the Hokes Bluff community for providing coaches, media and staffers with wonderful food and beverages during last week’s county basketball tournament.

When one spends so much time away from home and missing supper, as I did covering all the games for The Messenger for five nights, it is satisfying to have home-cooked meals rather than junk food or fast food.

All the coaches at Hokes Bluff High School worked hard to keep their guests full and satisfied this year.

“I want to thank everyone in Hokes Bluff who participated in the tournament this year,” Hokes Bluff varsity boys coach Greg Watkins said. “The people in our community are great and always do a fine job.

“I also wish to thank Mike Cancilla and Gadsden State for allowing the tournament to be played here. Most kids around the county will not have the opportunity to play on a college floor, so this was a great experience for them. This tournament is for the kids and I feel was a success again this year.”

To Mrs. Robertson: yes ma’am, that was the best pecan pie I have ever tasted!
