Hokes Bluff, Glencoe, Gaston, Etowah, Ashville come up short

Hokes Bluff fell to Class 3A Region 6 rival Sylvania, 28-21 on Friday, Oct. 20 at Mike Robertson Field.
For the Eagles (5-3, 4-2), Bryce Whitaker rushed eight times for 73 yards and two touchdowns and was 2 for-6 in passing for 57 yards. Alex Carter gained 38 yards on 10 carries.
Coleman McGinnis finished with 20 tackles, followed by Drew McCarver and Anderson Morgan with nine each and Whitaker with six. Whitaker also had an interception.
Hokes Bluff finishes off region play on Friday, Oct. 27 at Piedmont.

Glencoe lost to Ohatchee, 42-26, in Class 3A, Region 6 action on Friday, Oct. 20 at Ohatchee.
For the Yellow Jackets (2-6, 0-6), quarterback Brady Kitchens finished with 324 combined yards and four touchdowns. He was 16 for 27 in passing for 232 yards and a score and rushed for 92 yards and three TDs.
Jayden Patton had 10 receptions for 159 yards (for a 16-yard average) per catch and a touchdown, while Braylen Smith and Conner Montgomery each caught three passes.
Glencoe closes out region play on Friday, Oct. 27 at home against Geraldine.

Gaston lost to Locust Fork, 62-0, in Class 2A Region 6 action on Friday, Oct. 20. The Bulldogs (1-6, 0-5) wrap up region play on Friday, Oct. 27 at Pleasant Valley.

Etowah lost to Cherokee County, 49-0, on Friday, Oct. 20 in Attalla. The Blue Devils (4-4, 3-3) travel to Cullman on Friday, Oct. 27 in a non-region game.

Oneonta posted a 63-39 win over Ashville in Class 4A, Region 6 action on Oct. 20.
Jonathan Beason had a 53-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs (0-8, 0-5), while Jaden Harris threw a 47-yard touchdown pass to Jamon Williams.
Ashville wraps up region play on Oct. 27 at home against Cherokee County.
