Hokes Bluff runner wins Wing and a Prayer 5K

Hokes Bluff’s Ethan Patterson placed first out of 47 runners in the Class 3A-5A division at the Wing and a Prayer 5K on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Anniston.
Patterson (pictured above), whose time of 17:32.11 1 was 19 seconds faster than runner-up Austin Worthy of Clay-Central, helped the Eagles finish second overall.
Three Hokes Bluff runners placed in the top 5 – Samuel Neal (11th, 20:34.94), Micah Brasher (12th, 20:34.98) and Trey Harbin (18th, 21:39.28).
Glencoe’s Braxton Fortenberry came in 17th at 21:32.60.
Finishing in the top 25 were Hokes Bluff’s Aaron Barnard (24th, 22:44.12) and Caylor Jones (22:54.20).
In girls’ action, Hokes Bluff’s Emma Godfrey and Glencoe’s Sarah Ponder finished third and fourth, respectively. Godfrey posted a time of 22:04.86, while Ponder clocked in at 22:07.32. Also placing in the top 25 for Hokes Bluff was Mara Brothers in 12th at 24:19.54 and Reagan Shields in 18th at 26:04.28.
