Alabama Week 10 Review

The Crimson Tide finished the regular season with a shutout win over Vanderbilt, and the Tide entered this week’s SEC Tournament as the 11 seed. In the opening game of the tournament, Alabama defeated sixth seeded Ole Miss 6-1, eliminating the Rebels. On the second day of the tournament, Alabama lost to Texas A&M 4-3. Alabama’s chances of making the NCAA Tournament are slim due to their average RPI and poor conference record. If the Tide keeps winning in the SEC Tournament, however, they will increase their chances of making the NCAA field.

Auburn Week 10 Review

Auburn avoided a sweep against Florida to finish the regular season, and the Tigers earned the ninth seed in the SEC Tournament. In the opening game, the Tigers defeated Kentucky, 6-3. The win over the Wildcats likely came close to locking up a NCAA Tournament berth for Auburn despite a 9-8 loss to LSU on the second day of the tournament.

SEC Tournament

Ole Miss, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee were the first four teams to be eliminated, and only eight teams remain. Auburn, Alabama, Missouri, and Florida have all lost once, and another loss will send them home as well. LSU, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Texas A&M have all reached the semifinals unscathed, and it will take two losses to knock those four teams out of the tournament.

LSU is the top-ranked team in the country, and the Tigers are the favorites to win the SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt is still dangerous, however, and the defending national champions have a great chance at upsetting the Tigers. The dark horse to win the tournament is Arkansas, as the Razorbacks have proven all season that they are one of the conference’s best teams.
