According to a recent press release from the Gadsden & Etowah County Chamber, the 2012 Gadsden RiverFest’s Saturday night country headliner will be Jamey Johnson.
“We are excited about how our line-up is coming together,” said RiverFest co-chair Mike Shannon. “With the addition of Jamey Johnson as our Saturday headliner, the show is going to be one of the best yet.”
Opening for Jamey Johnson on Saturday, June 9, will be the Oak Ridge Boys and one more yet to be released act. Friday’s line-up includes headliner Fuel preceded by Lou Gramm, former lead singer of Foreigner and a yet to be released opener.
“I think our line-up truly represents a large spectrum of musical tastes, added Shannon. “It’s our hope that most everyone will have at least one favorite act that will draw them in to enjoy the other entertainment as well.”
Johnson’s numerous awards include Best Country Album for “The Guitar Song” at the 2011 Grammy Awards; 2011 Academy of County Music Awards Album of the Year for “The Guitar Song;” and 2010 Grammy Awards Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
“My dream already came true,” said Johnson, an Alabama native who has rocketed to Nashville stardom. “All I ever wanted was to get to just ride around and sing country music. It’s cool when things happen along the way, because those are things I never thought I could achieve. But whatever happens, I’ll just keep on doing what I do. I wake up every day and go play some more country music.”
