Lady Jackets win Grand River Invitational

The Glencoe High girls cross country team placed four runners in the top 10 en route to a first-place finish at the Grand River Invitational 5K last Saturday (Sept. 10) at Leeds.
Katie Giles (pictured above) paced the Lady Yellow Jackets with a runner-up time of 22:50.13. Sarah Ponder came in third at 23:17.03, Jaxson Sizemore fifth at 23:37.21 and Allie Jo Amos 10th at 24:19.57.
Two local runners also finished in the top 10 – Sardis’ Barit Snead in fourth at 23:27.97 and Westbrook Christian’s Lilly Ostendorf seventh at 24:07.57.
Posting top 20 showings were Glencoe’s Elizabeth Harrison (14th, 24:46.01), Sardis’ Rebekah Blackerby (15th, 24:47.75) and Glencoe’s Chloe Douglas (17th, 25:02.29).
The Glencoe boys came in third overall, led by Conner Cothran’s fourth-place time of 18:14.72. Reid Drenner finished 14th at 19:39.42, followed by Conner Strawn in 15th place (19:42.19).
