Lions edge White Plains in region tilt

The Sardis defense held White Plains scoreless in the second half en route to a 21-19 victory in a pivotal Class 4A, Region 6 contest last Friday (Oct. 2) in Anniston.

The Lions even up their record at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the region, while the Wildcats fall to 1-5 and 0-4.

Sardis quarterback Logan Gaskin was 7-of-16 in passing for 234 yards and two touchdowns, including a 65-yard scoring pass to Austin Hallmark and a 27-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Scoggins.

Hallmark finished with four receptions for 136 yards.

Keenen Lewis carried the ball eight times for 37 yards and one 19-yard rushing touchdown, which was the lone score of the second half.

Sardis takes a break from region play on Friday (Oct. 9) with a home game against Cleburne County.
