Locals make AHSAA Prep Spotlight

Several area student-athletes were recognized for the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for the week of September 30.
In cross country, Ashville High senior Joe Stevens set a career PR and broke his own school record at the Jesse Owens Classic 5K at Oakman Indian Mounds Park. Stevens, whose time of 16:17.37 was nine seconds behind winner Agustin Lemuz of LAMP (16:08.59) in the Bronze division race, broke his own school record of 16:23 set on the same course at last year’s Class 4A state meet, which he won.
In football, Gadsden City sophomore halfback T.J. Worthy rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and senior halfback Khalil Hughley caught five passes for 105 yards in the Titans’ 37-7 victory over Hazel Green.
Hokes Bluff senior quarterback Conner Masters (pictured above) was a perfect 9-for-9 in passing for 193 yards and three touchdowns and sophomore defensive back Anderson Morgan intercepted two passes
in the Eagles’ 28-0 victory over Plainview.
Ashville senior linebacker Hunter Pyle intercepted two passes in the Bulldogs’ 38-14 victory over Fultondale.
