Panthers edge Etowah in double OT

Southside defeated Etowah, 41-34 in double overtime on Friday, Sept. 27 at Barney Hood Stadium.
The Panthers (2-3, 1-1) finished with 461 total yards of offense, including 315 rushing yards on the ground.
Koal Garrett (pictured above) rushed 21 times for 157 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one reception for 19 yards. Jevontae Strong gained 120 and a touchdown on six carries.
Ethan Sarratt was 5 for 13 in passing for 141 yards and two touchdowns. He also had four rushes for 24 yards. C.J. Martin had one catch for 42 yards.
For the Blue Devils (1-4, 1-2), quarterback Jameson Scissum accounted for five touchdowns, passing for three and running for two. Cash Hayes, Bennett Reeves and Zaden Knight each caught a touchdown pass.
Both teams continue region play on Friday, Oct. 4. The Panthers host Mae Jamison, while the Blue Devils host Oneonta.
