Sardis High School rising senior Caroline Johnson was one of 12 players selected to the North roster for the AHSAA North/South All-Star girls tennis match this July in Montgomery.
Johnson (pictured above) helped the Lady Lions go undefeated at 14-0 during the regular season win the program’s first-ever sectional tournament and finish fourth at the Class 4A-5A state tournament. Johnson made it to the No. 1 singles semifinals, where she fell to Etowah’s Abrianna Erwin. Johnson and teammate McKenzie Williams were the state runners-up in the No. 1 doubles championship.
Johnson’s North teammates include Elliott Armstrong of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Vivi Blakely and Abby Glover of Decatur, Nancy Chen of Vestavia Hills, Isabella Hall of Hewitt-Trussville, Punarvi Mandadapu of James Clemens, Elizabeth Mann of Westminster-Oak Mountain, Katia Peterson of Cullman, Sydney Porter of Altamont, Stella Stephens of Huntsville and Channing Vick of Northridge. North girls coaches are Amanda Whitmore of Decatur, Brian Peirano of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and of Randolph.
The Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association hosts annual North-South all-star games in tennis, baseball, softball, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, cross country, soccer and golf during the All-Star Week.
