Southside sweeps Titans in varsity soccer

The Southside High boys and girls soccer teams posted a sweep over Gadsden City on Monday (Apr. 1) at SHS.

The Lady Panthers improved to 10-5-2 with a 3-1 win. 

MaraJade Gray put the hosts ahead for good with her goal at 22:18 of the first half. 

Rikki Rubrigi found the net with 41 seconds left before halftime for a 2-0 Southside lead.

The Lady Panthers took a 3-0 lead on Rubrigi’s goal at 22:51 of the second half.

Olivia White scored with about five minutes left for the Lady Titans (6-3).

In the boys game, Southside’s Andy Chiaramonte opened the scoring at the 25:57 mark of the first half. 

Gabriel Alvarez’s goal 11 minutes later made it 2-0 in favor of the Panthers (8-4-1).

Mason Gore added another score for Southside at 5:50 of the second half.

The Titans avoided the shutout on Z’aal Alhajazin’s goal with 2:44 left in the game.
