Southside volleyball at 4-2 on the season

Southside went 2-2 at the Brewer Tournament last Saturday (Aug. 21) in Somerville.
The Lady Panthers defeated Ardmore, 25-20 and 25-16, and Athens Bible, 25-16, 25-15. Southside lost to Madison Academy, 16-25, 25-21, 9-15 and Madison County, 10-25, 19-25.
For the tournament for the Lady Panthers, Keelan Vice had 24 kills, followed by Rachel Wilson with 21, Macey Herren with 19, Ella Knowlton with 12 and Ziniah Hardy (pictured above) with 11.
Kathryn Webb distributed 66 assists. She also had eight aces, followed by Wilson with five and Hannah Rogers with three.
Rogers came up with 21 digs, while Hardy had 12 and Herren seven.
Knowlton had five blocks, followed by Vice with three and Wilson and Hardy with two each.

Southside opened the season on August 19 with a tri-match sweep. The Lady Panthers beat Class 6A, Area 13 rival Pell City, 25-6, 25-19, 20-25, 25-10 and Ohatchee, 25-17, 25-18. Vice had 19 kills, five aces, three dogs and two blocks; Wilson had 17 kills and two blocks; Herren had 13 kills and six digs; Hardy had 14 digs, six aces and two kills; Rogers had 12 digs, four aces and two kills; and Webb had 53 assists, five digs and three aces.
