Southside, Westbrook, Etowah, Coosa, West End notch match wins

Southside swept a tri-match at Gadsden City High School last Tuesday (Sept. 21). The Lady Panthers (27-6, 4-0) opened with a 25-10, 25-20 victory over Hewitt-Trussville, followed by a 25-6, 25-5 win over the Lady Titans. For Southside, Kathryn Webb had 34 assists, six digs and two aces; Ella Knowlton had 12 kills, three digs and two blocks; Macey Herren had 11 kills and 10 digs; and Hannah Rogers had 11 digs and three aces.
Webb distributed 33 assists and Herren and Ziniah Hardy had 15 kills and 15 digs, respectively, in Southside’s 25-23, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Fyffe last Monday (Sept. 20). Webb added six digs, Herren chipped in nine digs and Hardy contributed six kills. Also for the Lady Panthers (25-6, 4-0), Knowlton had eight kills and Rogers had 11 digs.
Southside went 4-1 at the Huskey Challenge Tournament last Saturday (Sept. 18) in Trussville.
The Lady Panthers (24-6) defeated Helena, 25-15, 25-20; Pleasant Valley, 25-23, 25-16; Gardendale, 25-22, 25-20; and Chelsea, 25-10, 19-25, 15-7 before falling to Springville, 22-25, 25-27 in the semifinals. For the tournament for Southside, Webb had 106 assists; Rachel Wilson had 33 kills, six digs and four blocks; Herren had 37 digs, 29 kills, seven aces and three blocks; Keelan Vice had 40 kills and seven blocks; Knowlton had 18 kills and eight blocks; Hardy (pictured above) had 28 digs, 18 kills, six aces and three blocks; Rogers had 40 digs; and Rylie Kitchens had 20 digs.
Southside swept a tri-match on September 16. The Lady Panthers defeated Boaz, 25-21, 25-10 and Fort Payne, 25-15, 25-9. For Southside, Webb had 35 assists, four digs and two kills; Vice had 14 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and one ace; Hardy had eight digs and five aces; Knowlton had nine kills and two blocks; and Rogers had nine digs.

Westbrook Christian swept Gaston, 25-3, 25-9, 25-10 in Class 2A, Area 12 action last Tuesday (Sept. 21) in Rainbow City. For the Lady Warriors (9-6, 1-2), Brielle Wood had 15 assists, seven kills, four aces and three digs; Raylee Neal had eight aces, five digs and four assists; Raegan Harrell had six kills and three aces; and Landri Lipscomb had six kills and four aces.
Westbrook Christian fell to Spring Garden, 16-25, 21-25, 14-25, in Class 2A, Area 12 action last Monday (Sept. 20) in Rainbow City. For the Lady Warriors (8-6, 0-2), Wood had 19 assists, 11 digs, three kills and two aces; Lipscomb had nine digs, six kills and three aces; Neal had seven digs and three aces; Bella Millirons had five digs and four kills; Kenna Stephens had four digs and three kills; and Harrell had four kills.
Westbrook Christian swept Gadsden City, 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 on September 16. For the Lady Warriors, Wood had 12 assists, six digs, four aces and two kills; Harrell had 17 aces and six kills; Neal had 10 digs; and Stephens had four kills.

Etowah split in a tri-match last Monday (Sept. 20). The Lady Blue Devils (10-4, 2-1) fell to Oneonta, 1-2 and beat Appalachian, 2-1. For Etowah against Oneonta, Jaleigh Devine had 16 kills, three blocks and two digs; Shelby Horton had 21 assists; Abbi Martin had nine digs; Anna Jones had seven kills; and Elli Jones had five digs. Against Appalachian, Horton had 14 assists, Devine had 12 kills, Lauren Farmer had five assists and Anna Jones had four kills.
Etowah posted a three-set weep over Cedar Bluff on September 16. Devine had eight kills, five blocks and two digs; Horton had 11 assists and two aces; Elli Jones had six digs; Martin had five digs; and Anna Jones had five kills and two digs.
Etowah lost to Boaz 2-1, on September 14. Devine had seven kills, five blocks and four digs; Horton had eight assists, five kills, four digs and two blocks; Anna Jones had six kills and four blocks; and Martin had 10 digs.

Mills Douthard distributed 12 assists and Erin Snow served up 10 aces in Coosa Christian’s 3-0 sweep of Class 1A, Area 13 rival Valley Head last Tuesday (Sept. 21). Also for the Lady Conquerors, (6-5, 4-1), Evelyn Nowak had seven kills and four aces, Kate England had four kills and Kailah East had three kills.
Coosa Christian beat Gaston in two sets on September 16. For the Lady Conquerors, Douthard had 17 assists, Snow had 13 digs, Amira Augustus had six digs and Nowak had three kills and two aces.

West End remained undefeated in Class 2A, Area 11 paly with a 25-14, 25-17, 25-10 victory over Locust Fork last Tuesday (Sept. 21). For the Lady Patriots (10-6, 4-0), Baylee Grayson had 23 assists, Vannessa Alldredge had 13 digs; Reagan Smith had 12 digs, eight aces and four kills; Hope Jenkins had seven kills and six aces; and Payton Canady had eight kills and two aces.
