Titans fall to Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa

Gadsden City came up short to Class 6A No. 4 Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, 45-19, in high school football on September 23 at GCHS.
The Titans (2-4, 2-0) pulled within 14-0 entering the second quarter on Dre Kirkpatrick’s 20-yard touchdown run and Gabriel Brito’s 35-yard field goal, but the Patriots (6-0) outscored GCHS 31 to 9 the rest of the way. The next Titan score came at 8:12 of the fourth quarter on Brito’s 39-yard field goal. Kirkpatrick (pictured above) reeled off a 77-yard touchdown with 2:33 left in the game with Hillcrest leading by 26 points. Kirkpatrick rushed for 108 yards on four carries for a 17-yard average. He also had eight tackles on defense.
Matthew Sparks was 8 for 19 in passing for 78 yards. Jacob Perry and Andrae Fomby each had three receptions, while Clyde Curry caught two passes.
Jackson Veasey finished with seven tackles, while K’Rysiak Yow had five.
Gadsden City resumes Class 6A Region 8 play this Friday (Sept. 30) with a visit to Hazel Green.
