Volleyball roundup: Southside, Westbrook, Etowah, Coosa win matches

Southside improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in area play with a 25-21,17-25,23-25,25-22,15-8 victory over Springville last Tuesday (Sept. 7). For the Lady Panthers Ella Knowlton (pictured above) had 12 kills and three blocks; Kathryn Webb had 44 assists and four aces; Macey Herren had 10 kills, seven digs and four aces; Keelan Vice had 10 kills and two blocks; Rachael Wilson had nine kills and three blocks.
Southside swept a quad match sweep on September 2. The Lady Panthers defeated Fort Payne, 25-17, 25-17; Sand Rock, 25-14, 13-25, 15-11; and Planview, 25-23, 25-13.
Rachel Wilson and Macey Herren each had 16 kills, followed by Keelan Vice with 13, Ziniah Hardy with 12, Ella Knowlton with seven and Kathryn Webb with four. Webb distributed 56 assists. Hardy served up seven aces, followed by Hannah Rogers with six and Wilson and Herren with four each. Rogers came up with 16 digs, followed by Hardy with 11, Herren with eight Vice with six and Wilson with four. Vice had six blocks, followed by Knowlton with four and Hardy with three.

Westbrook Christian fell against area rival Sand Rock in three sets last Tuesday (Sept. 7). For the Lady Warriors (4-3), Brielle Wood had 15 digs, seven kills, two aces and two blocks; Raylee Neal had 12 digs and two assists; Bella Millirons had four digs, three kills and two assists; and Landri Lipscomb had four blocks and two digs.
Westbrook split a tri-match on September 2, defeating Gadsden City 2-0 and losing to Glencoe, 1-2. Landri Lipscomb had 14 kills, followed by Raegan Harrell with nine and Brielle Wood with seven. Wood also had 30 assists, while Raylee Neal had five. Wood served up seven aces, followed by Neal with six and Lipscomb with three. Wood had 18 digs, while Neal added 10.

Etowah swept area rival Oneota in three sets last Tuesday (Sept. 7). For the Lady Blue Devils (6-2, 2-0), Jaleigh Devine had 15 kills, five digs and two aces; Shelby Horton had 15 assists and two aces; Elli Jones had 11 digs; Abbi Martin had eight digs and three aces; Anna Jones had five kills and five blocks; and Laura Wood had five blocks and two assists.
Etowah won its first area match with a 3-0 sweep over Ashville on September 2. Jaleigh Devine had 18 kills, followed by Anna Jones with nine and Shelton Horton with five. Horton also had 20 assists. Devine and Elli Jones each had five digs, followed by Anna Jones and Abbi Martin with four each. Devine had three blocks, while Anna Jones had two.

Coosa Christian lost to Ragland, 3-1, last Tuesday (Sept. 7). For the Lady Conquerors (2-3), Evelyn Nowak had 17 kills and two aces; Amira Augustus had seven digs and two aces; Erin Snow had six digs; Natalie Delp had four blocks and two kills; and Kailah East had two kills and two blocks.
Coosa Christian defeated Faith Christian, 2-0, on September 2. Evelyn Nowak had seven kills and two aces, while Erin Snow had two aces and two digs. Kate England added three kills. Despite 19 digs by Snow, On September 3, Coosa lost to Cedar Bluff in three sets on September 3. Nowak had four kills, while Mills Douthard had four assists.
