Warriors lose to Piedmont

Westbrook Christian’s slim hopes of a state playoff berth were dashed on Friday (Oct. 16) at Piedmont, as the fifth-ranked Bulldogs clinched the Class 3A, Region 6 title with a 39-7 victory.

Piedmont 7-1, 6-0) held the Warriors (2-6, 2-4) to minus-28 yards net rushing and 87 yards of net offense. The only first downs allowed by the Bulldogs came on a pair of 56-yard passes in the first and fourth quarters.

Westbrook’s lone score came on Addison Ponder’s 1-yard run with 4:31 remaining in the game.

The Warriors wrap up region play on Friday (Oct. 23) with a home game against Ashville.
