Warriors notch first win at Ider

Westbrook forced four fumbles on the way to a 21-16 victory over Host Ider on Friday (Sept. 13) in Class 2A, Region 7 action.

Westbrook (1-2, 1-1 region) scored first on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Jake Kilgo to Dylan Potts with 3:53  left in the first quarter. The point-after failed.

Ider (1-2, 1-1) answered with 7:37 to go in the second quarter with a 27-yard Timothy Upton field goal.

The Warriors answered when Randy Williams returned the kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown. Kilgo ran in a two-point conversion for a 14-3 lead.

Ider cut into it early in the third quarter with Dillon Reed’s 12-yard touchdown run at the 10:17 mark. But Westbrook  rallied with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kilgo to Chris Underwood.

Ider closed the game on Caleb Higdon’s 20-yard scoring run but was unable to do more.

Westbrook continues region play on Friday at West End.
