West End, Etowah open volleyball season with wins

West End opened its season on August 19 with a 17-25, 25-20, 27-29, 25-19, 13-13 victory over Douglas in Walnut Grove. For the Lady Patriots, Payton Canady (pictured above) had seven kills, four sigs and two aces; Reagan Smith had five kills, three digs and two aces; Vannessa Alldredge had 12 kills and two aces; Hope Jenkins had four kills and three aces; and Katie Parker had three digs and two aces.

Etowah opened its season last Monday (Aug. 23) with a 25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18 win over Hokes Bluff. For the Lady Blue Devils, Jaleigh Devine had 16 kills, Shelby Horton had 17 assists, Anna Jones had three kills and two aces and Abbi Martin and Elli Jones each had three digs.
