West End, Glencoe, Sardis softball teams come up short at North Central Regional

The West End, Glencoe and Sardis high school softball teams all saw their seasons end the North Central Regional Tournament last week in Tuscaloosa.

The Class 2A Lady Patriots finished a game short of the state tournament, losing in the playback bracket final.

After opening with a 9-4 loss to Thorsby on Friday (May 13), West End defeated Ranburne, 10-7; Randolph County, 6-5; and Thorsby, 7-5 before falling to Cleveland, 4-1, in the playback championship game.

In Class 3A, Glencoe defeated Holly Pond, 8-3, before falling to Oakman, 8-7, in the winners bracket semifinals. The Lady Yellow jackets then lost to Pleasant Valley, 17-5 in the playback bracket.

The Lady Lions went 0-for-2 in Class 4A, falling to Carbon Hill, 14-7 in eight innings, and J.B. Pennington, 5-4, in the playback bracket.
