Despite playing in a steady rain and enduring two weather delays for lightning, the Westbrook Christian boys golf team qualified for the program’s eighth straight state tournament after winning the Class 3A North Substate playoffs last Monday (May 3) at Silver Lakes in Glencoe.
The Warriors shot a team total of 316 and finished 40 strokes ahead of second place Lauderdale County which carded a 368. Low medalist Jackson Bowman paced Westbrook with a round of even par 72. Kyle Copeland shot an 80, followed by Ridge McHugh and Logan McClendon at 82 each and Cove McHugh at 86. Playing as an individual, Hall Boulware shot 97 for a personal bests core at Silver Lakes.
The Warriors will compete in the Class 3A state tournament on May 10-11 at Magnolia Grove in Mobile.
