With the score tied at 28 at halftime, Westbrook Christian outscored Plainview 14 to 7 over the final 24 minutes to post a 42-35 Class 2A Region 6 win on Friday, Oct. 20 in Rainsville.
The Warriors (4-4, 2-4) notched a pair of touchdowns during the third quarter to take a 42-28 lead. Lamycal Mitchell scored from four yards out and Greyson Carroll found the end zone from nine yards away to provide the hosts with a 14-point lead.
It turned out that Westbrook would need Carroll’s insurance TD, as the Bears returned an interception for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
Carroll finished with 218 yards combined yards. He was 5 for 13 in passing for 124 yards and a touchdown and carried 19 times for 94 yards and two scores. He also had an interception on defense.
Hunter Arnold gained 62 yards on nine attempts, while Mitchell caught three passes for 34 yards.
Eggo Alabbasi (pictured above) had eight tackles (including two for a loss), followed by Max Legg with six and Noah Wright with five. Wright also had a sack.
The Warriors wrap up region play on Friday, Oct. 27 at home against Sylvania.
