Local teams ranked in state volleyball poll

A pair of area teams are ranked in the latest Birmingham News volleyball poll, released Aug. 30.

Southside is the third-ranked team in Class 5A, while Gaston came in 10th in the 2A poll.

Conquerors fall to Collinsville

Coosa Christian opened its football season with a 38-13 Class 1A, Region 7 loss to Collinsville last Thursday (Aug. 30). 

Austin Mills scored a pair of touchdowns for the visiting Conquerors (0-1, 0-1). 

Coosa hosts Donoho on Friday (Sept. 7) in more region action.  

West End comes up short to Susan Moore

  West End suffered a 41-12 loss to Susan Moore in high school football action last Thursday (Aug. 30) in Walnut Grove. 

Chase Blanton scored a pair of touchdowns for the Patriots (0-1, 0-0).  

West End opens Class 2A, Region 7 action on Friday with a trip to Ider. 

Sylvania slips past Sardis
