Lions host car show/festival

Dine well, do good for Junior Achievement

On Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.,  Chef Leonardo Maurelli, III will be hosting a dinner at Gadsden’s Back Forty Beer Company,  200 North 6th Street.

Chef Leo will be preparing an Alabama farm to table dinner experience, featuring locally sourced seafood, pork, beef and produce paired with the finest craft beers from Back Forty Beer Company.

Commission recognizes Hokes Bluff student

The Etowah County Commission commended Hokes Bluff Middle School student Annagrace Gardner, daughter of Charlie and Staci Gardner, for creating a nonprofit organization to help children with diabetes and other be able to get diabetic alert dogs.

Annagrace was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2012.

She recently went on the insulin pump, but her treatment has required her to check blood

Commission honors Westbrook student golfer

The Etowah County Commission recognized young golfer Harrison Ray Martin for a number of golfing achievements, including his first place finish in the Gadsden Country Club Junior Championship in 2013 and 2012, his first place finish in 2013 and second place finish in 2012 in the Etowah County Championship and his first place finish in the Dixie PGA Junior Championship
