West End to play in Elite Eight
West End qualified for the Elite Eight state tournament for the third straight year at the Class 2A North Super Regional Tournament last week (Oct. 25-26) in Huntsville.

Brewer Hicklen led Huntsville back from a 21-point halftime deficit to Gadsden City, only to fall short 42-41 in overtime in the Class 6A, Region 7 game.
Combined with Pell City’s loss, the win gave the Titans (5-4, 5-2) the region’s third playoff seed. GCHS travels to Bessemer City on Nov. 8 for a first round game.

Southside closed out Class 5A, Region 7 play on Friday (Oct. 25) with a 42-0 win over Brewer in Somerville.
As the region’s No. 1 seed, the Panthers (9-0, 7-0) host Wenonah on Nov. 8 in the first round of the state playoffs.
