Go Irish early this year, by joining Downtown Gadsden Inc., for a free concert by Irish singer/songwriter Marian Bradfield.

DGI Execuctive Director Kay Moore said Bradfield will bring her lovely, laid-back style to the Pitman Theatre on March 13. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the performance will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity volunteer John Parks honored

Alabama Association of Habitat Affiliates (AAHA) celebrated its 22nd anniversary at their Annual Awards Banquet in Montgomery Feb. 20. Gov. Robert Bentley was the keynote speaker at the event.

Gadsden State Community College needs your help to win Home Depot’s Retool Your School Grant funding which is available to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. 

The grant has three options including one winner for the Tier I Major Project Award of $50,000, thirteen winners of the Tier II Minor Project awards of $10,000, and three winners for the Campus Pride Project

Former GSCC student honored as nation’s outstanding alum

Toshiko Abe, deputy foreign minister for the Japanese government and a member of the House of Representatives, is a recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award presented by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

Abe chose Gadsden State Community College as her first educational experience in the United States from 1998-1999. She continued her education at Jacksonville State University for

James Gadsden DAR announces winners

The James Gadsden Daughters of the American Revolution med recently at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.

Members and visitors were welcomed by Annie Batie, regent.
