John S. Jones Elementary School Summer Program got a lesson in bees on Thursday, July 17 in Attalla during an exciting 2nd annual Bee Awareness Day as part of the “Bee a good reader” program.

Alabama Power announces Alabama Good Roots Grant recipients

The Alabama Power Foundation has awarded 38 Good Roots grants totaling more than $33,000 to help communities across Alabama plant trees.

Boats will race at 3rd annual Habitat dragon boat festival

The 3rd annual dragon boat race will take place on Saturday Aug. 16 at 9 a.m., Gadsden Riverwalk Park. 

Each 46” long canoe should have a team of 20 paddlers, 1 drummer, and a steersperson plus 3 alternates ages 15 and up. The deadline to register a team for the race is Friday, Aug. 1.
