GSCC announces summer graduation

The Summer Commencement Ceremony for Gadsden State Community College will be held Thursday, August 7 at 6 p.m. at the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center in Gadsden.
Dr. Helen T. McAlpine will address the graduates during the ceremony. Dr. McAlpine is currently serving as the interim president of Gadsden State.

Gadsden-Etowah EMA receives Mitigation Award

The Gadsden/Etowah Emergency Management Agency recently received the Large County Mitigation Award from the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers(AAEM).
This award is in recognition for the “Shelter Etowah” program, which is currently made up of 15 community facilities that include; area wide churches, the Gadsden Public Library, area Community Centers & FEMA approved community safe rooms.

The Alabama Power Foundation is launching a new grant program aimed at helping high school athletic programs break down barriers to student participation.
