Conquerors come up short to JCA

  Jacksonville Christian Academy won its first game of the season with a 46-20 victory over Coosa Christian on Friday in Jacksonville. 

JCA improved to 1-2, including 1-1 in Class 1A, Region 7. Coosa Christian dropped to 0-3, including 0-2 in the region.

For Coosa Christian, Johnny Grizzard hit Caiden Lipscomb on a 24-yard touchdown strike.

Four turnovers, a safety and a breakdown in special teams doomed Sardis’ chances of upsetting seventh-ranked and unbeaten Jacksonville.

The Golden Eagles capitalized on the Lions’ mistakes to post a 23-7 triumph Friday night in the Class 4A, Region 6 matchup at SHS. It was the first meeting between the programs.
