GCHS boosts AP participation
Gadsden City High School recently announced its sixth year of Advanced Placement (AP) results, indicating a 121 percent increase in the number of students participating in AP Math, Science and English courses and a 25 percent increase in the qualifying scores on the AP exams.

Two Etowah students receive Alfa scholarship
Two Etowah County residents were among 50 recipients of the 2014 Alfa Foundation scholarship. Each recipient received $1,000 in the program’s inaugural year.

Native Attalla author to host book signing

On September 28, Attalla native Tashara Childs will host a book signing for her first novel, Knocking on the Devil’s Door, at Flip Side Café in Gadsden from 3-5 p.m.
The book, which ranked No. 25 on the African-American Christian Fiction Kindle Chart, was published a year ago.
