Two local students win national scholarship

More than 1,600 Black American high school seniors who have been designated semifinalists in the 51st annual National Achievement Scholarship Program were announced today by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) officials, including two local students.

Kasoorelope Y. Oguntuyo of Gadsden City High and Elizabeth M. Williams of Westbrook Christian received a National Achievement Scholarship.

Dear Editor,

The amazing amount of efforts, be it labor, time, monetary or fortitude, has began to pay off at the Whites Chapel Cemetery in North Gadsden. 

The people have come from all walks of life to pay tribute and honor to the ones buried there.  The most unlikely help has come from the outside from people who don’t have ancestors buried

Knights begin Campaign for Intellectual Disabilities

Members of the Knights of Columbus will be out this weekend for the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities. 

On Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 4, members will be scattered at stores throughout the community accepting donations in exchange for Tootsie Rolls.

Gadsden City downs Huntsville, 35-14

Gadsden City defeated Huntsville, 35-14, on Thursday in a Class 7A, Region 4 game in Huntsville. 

For the No. 6 Titans (6-1, 4-0), Ahmad DeRamus and Ryan Sparks each threw a for score, while Rodney Bozeman, Jr., and Damon Williams each rushed for a touchdown.
