Gadsden City defeated Huntsville, 35-14, on Thursday in a Class 7A, Region 4 game in Huntsville.
For the No. 6 Titans (6-1, 4-0), Ahmad DeRamus and Ryan Sparks each threw a for score, while Rodney Bozeman, Jr., and Damon Williams each rushed for a touchdown.
Williams’ 29-yard rushing touchdown with 5:09 left in the third quarter capped a Gadsden City drive that answered Huntsville’s 11-play, 68-yard opening half drive that pulled the Panthers within 21-14.
Bozeman, Williams, Dante Rudolph and Gabe Ford led a GCHS ground game that finished with 275 yards.
“The big thing offensively is the throw game,” Gadsden City coach Matt Scott said. “You can’t beat the top teams in this class if you have to run the football every single play. We’ve got one of the best run games I’ve ever been associated with. If you can put that throw game in there with it, they’ve got to respect that too, and we’ll be tough to stop offensively.”
Gadsden continues region play next week with a home game against James Clemens.
