Billingsley beats Stewart

Billy Billingsley, Sr. won the District 5 runoff election on Tuesday, Oct. 7 against current City of Gadsden councilman Bill Stewart. Stewart has held the position for four terms. 

Billingsley won with 53.6 percent of the votes, which totaled 308 votes. Stewart received 266 votes.

Students to Stewards helps education

Twenty-five schools and nonprofit organizations across the state will receive conservation education grants through the Alabama Power Foundation’s “Students to Stewards” program.
