Glencoe’s Sims wins junior boys golf tournament

Glencoe’s Jack Sims won the Etowah County Junior Golf Tournament boys 16-18 year-old ‘A’ Division championship on July 15. 

The three-day tournament was held at the Gadsden Country Club, Twin Bridges in Gadsden and Silver Lakes in Glencoe.

Alabama Power held an iCan Girls in Engineering Conference at Glencoe Middle School on Thursday, July 23.

This is the conference’s second year in Etowah County. About 90 girls from Etowah County middle schools were chosen by school administrators based on math and science aptitude. About 30 students attended the event, representing almost every school

The Reader’s Exchange, located next to the Coffee Well at 124 Court Street in Gadsden, is a new used book store. The store opened in December of last year.

  The Reader’s Exchange has a charming feel, with quotes from books or about books painted on the walls and wooden bookshelves, of course, completely filled with books.
