Gadsden City burst to a 24-point lead in the first quarter and coasted to a 30-9 win over Sparkman on Friday in Huntsville.

The Class 7A, Region 4 opener left the No. 8 Titans at 3-0 overall, while the Senators fell to 0-2.

Damon Williams ran for 37 yards and the first touchdown for Gadsden City. Ahmad DeRamus got the next score from 55 yards, while Jaylon Williams added one for 56 for the Titans, who led 30-0 at the half.

Damon Williams ran 10 times for 88 yards and a touchdown. 

“We got off to a quick start again tonight,” Gadsden City coach  Matt Scott said. “Then offensively we lost our focus. The defense played really well, and we improved on our special teams.”

Gadsden City returns to the Huntsville area next to meet Grissom in another region matchup.
