Glencoe artist Gina Brown held a painting workshop On May 23 and 24 at Events On Court, located at 124 Court Street in Gadsden. Brown taught her “simplified impressionalism” style of oil painting to 12 workshop participants, who traveled from as far away as Jacksonville, Fla. to attend.
“I try to paint as much as I can in one stroke,” said Brown, while describing her style. Brown began oil painting in 2009, and developed her style over the years. Brown’s work began to be displayed throughout the south, including Charleston, S.C.; Cincinatti, Ohio; Apalachicola, Fla.; and Watkinsville, Ga.
As interest in Brown’s artwork grew, she began to receive messages inquiring whether she taught workshops. The demand inspired her to hold workshops in Union Point, Ga; Rome, Ga; and the Gadsden workshop. Brown treats the workshops as a “art retreat,” ordering food from local restaurants and making it fun as well as informational for the attendees.
Brown’s next workshop will be June 10 and 11 in Tucker, Ga. Registration is $300. There are a limited number of spots and the class is filling up fast. To sign up or learn more, visit ginabrownart.com or her Facebook page Gina Brown Art.
Brown’s artwork will be on display at the Gadsden Museum of Art at the beginning of September. The show will open with a special reception during the First Friday celebration of the month.
