Several area football players were nominated for the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Prep Football Spotlight for the week of Oct. 11.
Coosa Christian senior linebacker Clete O’Bryant had 15 tackles in the Conquerors’ 49-8 win over Cold Spring to put him over 500 tackles for his career. Five of his tackles were for a loss. He also had a sack and a forced fumble.
Glencoe freshman running back Alex Hudson scored three touchdowns by three different means in Glencoe’s 32-28 victory over Saks. He rushed for a 4-yard touchdown, caught a 15-yard touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 74 yards for a touchdown. Hudson finished with 100 yards rushing on 14 carries and had two receptions for 19 yards.
Westbrook Christian freshman quarterback Sam Sollie was 15 for 18 in passing for 266 yards and four touchdowns in the Warriors’ 48-7 win over Innovation Academy of Tennessee. Brodie Johnson had five receptions for 100 yards and a TD. Defensively for Westbrook, Jonathan Hersman had nine tackles, including two for a loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Sardis junior linebacker Grant Coe (pictured above at left) finished with 10 tackles, including five for a loss, and forced a fumble in the Lions’ 20-0 win over Douglas. Teammate Levi Martin had nine tackles, including three for a loss, and two sacks.
