The Westbrook Christian Warriors placed four players in double figures in defeating cross-county rival Glencoe, 85-68, last Tuesday (Nov. 29) in Rainbow City.
“This was another typical Glencoe/Westbrook game,” said Westbrook head coach Donnie Pruitt. “They always come ready to play. Glencoe did a good job handling our pressure. They’re a good ball team.”
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 20-15 lead after one quarter before Westbrook fought back to take a 44-43 lead at the half.
The Warriors led 65-50 after three quarters. Glencoe made a run to cut the Warrior lead to 69-67 with 4:01 remaining but a 16-1 Westbrook run put the visitors away over the last few minutes.
Tyler Self paced the Warriors with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Cullen Stafford added 17 points and six rebounds.
“We played hard,” said Glencoe head coach Jason Gilley. “Westbrook is a very sound fundamental team. We shot the ball well in the first half, but our shots didn’t fall in the second half. When your shots aren’t falling, you have to pick it up on defense.”
Braden Beecham scored 15 for Westbrook, while Will Jones added 13 points and six assists.
Glencoe was led in scoring by Jakeb Amberson with 13 points, followed by Justin Barkley with 12 and Aaron Bush with 11.
