After losing two straight games, Westbrook regained its mojo last week against county rival West End.
Tonight (Sept. 28), the Warriors travel to the Creekbank to try and make it two in a row.
The strength of the Indians and the weaknesses of the Warriors collide, though.
“They’ve got some great defensive linemen,” Westbrook coach Tony Osborne said. “Their noseguard is exceptionally impressive and their tackles are almost as good.
“They close on the ball real well and make it tough to run between the tackles.”
Correspondingly, Osborne said that his team needs to work on its running game and pass protection.
“We’re running better,” he said. “But I still think we can get better at it. And there have been a few plays where our pass protection broke down.
“Maybe we can have those problems better before (Friday), because Ohatchee will definitely take advantage of mistakes in that area of the game.”
The Indians are coached by first-year head coach Nathan Wehunt.
Last week’s win over the Patriots moved Westbrook (1-2) into third-place tie with Section in the Class 2A, Region 7 standings.
Against West End, Jonathan Ford completed 10-of-17 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.
DeVernon Marshall had four receptions for 104 yards.
Marshall also led the Warriors on the ground with 55 yards on three carries.
